San Jose, CA - February 24, 2024 - At just 14 years old, singer-songwriter and performer Melissa Marielle was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) - Gold in recognition of more than 100 hours of volunteer service.
The special presentation took place at the Le Petit Cirque studios in Los Angeles, where Melissa was recognized for her dedication to giving back through music and community service. She opened the event by performing the U.S. National Anthem and later performed “Fearless” by Heather Holley. Much of Melissa’s volunteer work has been centered around lending her voice to charitable causes. Through her work with Le Petit Cirque, she helped support fundraising efforts for organizations including Wagmor Pets, which assists abandoned animals. She has also donated her time to charity events, holiday toy drives with Sacred Heart, church choir activities, local animal shelters, and community performances.
One memorable experience was performing with Le Petit Cirque in Malibu, CA in the production “The Dummy’s Attic.” Melissa has also performed for hundreds of people at community events, including a volunteer performance at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. “Receiving this award made me feel that I had made a positive impact on my community and that I was setting a positive example for others.” Melissa is especially grateful to Nathalie Gaulthier, founder and CEO of Le Petit Cirque, for providing opportunities to use her talent in service of others.
For Melissa, volunteering has become more than simply giving her time. It has helped shape the artist she continues to become - one who believes that a voice can do more than entertain; it can serve, connect, inspire, and give back.
